About the Event

On Saturday, March 28, Nevada steps into history as the first-ever Nevada Male Educators of Color Conference brings educators from across the state together at Nevada State University (In partnership with the School of Education) for a day grounded in one core goal: stronger outcomes for students. Built for teachers, coaches, support staff, and school, district, and aspiring leaders, this convening focuses on the skills, mindsets, and leadership habits that help educators drive eye-popping results in the classroom while building healthy, high-performing school communities. At the same time, it affirms the importance of representation—because when students see educators who reflect their identities and experiences, expectations rise and possibilities expand. Through practical workshops, leadership conversations, and community connection, participants will strengthen their instructional practice, expand their leadership capacity, and connect to opportunities that move them—and their students—forward. This inaugural conference marks the beginning of a statewide effort to invest in male educators of color as catalysts for both representation and results. The conference is open to male educators of color as well as friends of the Fellowship and allies who believe in this mission and want to help build stronger schools for Nevada’s students. What is the Nevada Male Educators of Color Conference? The Nevada Male Educators of Color Conference is the state’s first-ever convening created to support, affirm, and elevate male educators of color. It’s a powerful one-day experience focused on strengthening instructional practice, leadership growth, wellness, and community—because when educators thrive, students win.

Who is this conference for? This conference is built for teachers, coaches, support staff, school leaders, district leaders, and aspiring leaders across Nevada. It centers on male educators of color while welcoming allies and partners who believe in building more human, sustainable systems for students and schools.

How is this different from a typical education conference? This isn’t just sit-and-get PD. The conference is intentionally designed to be relational, reflective, and real—combining practical learning with cultural affirmation and authentic connection. You’ll engage in meaningful dialogue with educators who understand the lived realities of the work.

What topics will be covered? Sessions will focus on instructional excellence, leadership development, representation, culturally responsive practice, wellness, and sustaining yourself in the work. Workshops and conversations are grounded in real classroom and school-based challenges.

What will I leave with? You’ll walk away with actionable strategies you can use immediately, renewed energy for the work, and a stronger sense of belonging and purpose. Expect practical tools, fresh perspective, and relationships that extend beyond the day.

What is the format of the conference? The day will include inspiring keynotes, practical workshops, leadership conversations, and intentional community-building experiences designed to recharge, reconnect, and re-commit to the work—together.

Where and when is the conference taking place? The conference will take place on March 28 at Nevada State University (Christenson Education Building (CEB)).

What is included with registration? Registration includes access to all sessions, workshops, materials, and community experiences throughout the day, as well as breakfast and lunch. (Travel and lodging are not included.)

What is the dress code? Business casual and comfortable. Come ready to learn, connect, and move between sessions with ease.
